Beacon was 1 of 14 companies from across the country invited by the SBA Administrator to demonstrate to Congress the successful contribution of small business innovation in meeting Federal needs. The event was hosted by SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet at the Russell Building and was a way for Small Businesses that are participating in the SBIR Program to promote themselves and the program to Members of Congress; this is especially important as the community gears up for reauthorization of the program. Ms. Contreras-Sweet was joined at the event by Small Business Committee Chairman Steve Chabot (R-OH), Ranking Member Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). Also present was a mix of SBA and Pentagon officials. Beacon was represented at the event by ML Mackey, CEO, Mike MacEwen, President and Don Styer, VP, Norfolk Operations. During the event, Beacon was asked to showcase its cutting edge software for Energy Management and Ship Operations including SEAS and eLogBook.
We were also joined by Greentown Labs of Somerville MA and Aerodyne Research of Billerica, MA.
